Arborist Consultation
A consultation helps you decide what to do next when a tree is changing, competing with property use or raising concerns. Volusia Bobcat & Tree Service has an arborist on staff who provides professional tree assessments and consultations for residential and commercial properties.
Start with the decision you need to make
You may want to preserve a mature shade tree, understand a declining canopy, plan branch clearance or discuss whether removal is appropriate. Tell us the decision, rather than trying to name a treatment before the tree has been evaluated.
A consultation brings your goals together with observations of the tree and its surroundings. The discussion can lead to preservation recommendations, an inspection, pruning options or a removal assessment. An inquiry requests an appointment; it does not book a visit or guarantee a particular recommendation.
Tree condition and structural concerns
Describe what changed and when: canopy decline, visible damage, recent storms, excavation or a new concern about a tree near a building. Safe overview photos can help explain the request, but photographs cannot establish structural safety.
Our arborist evaluates the available observations and discusses what further assessment, if any, is needed. A visual visit has limits; concealed defects, inaccessible areas and underground conditions may require additional investigation. Confirm the scope before the appointment.
Preservation, pruning or removal?
Keeping a tree and maintaining a usable property are both legitimate goals. Explain which trees matter to you and what access, clearance or future use you need. Recommendations depend on the individual tree and site; consultation does not commit you to removal.
If pruning or removal is proposed, request a separate written work scope. Assessment, written reporting and physical tree work are different deliverables. Ask which are included and how any follow-up will be arranged.
Prepare for a useful residential or commercial visit
For a home, identify the tree and nearby structures. For a managed or commercial property, also provide the site contact, access rules and any documentation requested by the property manager.
- Property address, contact and the specific decision you need help with.
- Tree locations and a timeline of changes or previous work.
- Your preservation priorities and proposed property changes.
- Any request for a letter, report or supporting photographs.
- Recipient requirements, deadlines and access restrictions.
An arborist consultation for your Central Florida property
Based in DeBary, our team serves the established Volusia, Seminole and Lake County service territory. DeLand and DeBary homeowners can start with their existing city planning resources; commercial and residential customers elsewhere should share the address so scheduling and scope can be confirmed.
Storm exposure, drainage and recent site disturbance are useful discussion points. These are property observations to bring to the visit, not a diagnosis or a city-specific guarantee. If your purpose involves approvals, supply the actual recipient requirements before commissioning documentation.
Questions before you schedule
What does an arborist consultation involve?
A discussion of your goals, the tree’s condition and site observations, followed by recommendations within the agreed assessment scope. Ask whether a written deliverable or follow-up visit is included.
Can I talk with your arborist before choosing removal?
Yes. Request a consultation and explain your preservation goals. The assessment may identify pruning, monitoring, further investigation or removal considerations; no outcome is promised in advance.
Is a consultation the same as an arborist letter?
No. A consultation supports a decision. A letter or report is a written deliverable that should be requested and scoped explicitly, including who needs it and why.
How much does a consultation cost?
Ask for the assessment scope and fee before scheduling. The number of trees, access, documentation and any follow-up affect the quote. Requesting an estimate does not mean the professional assessment itself is free.
